If history is anything to learn from, protesters should be wary as what is allowed now could land you in a cold dark place come the closing ceremonies.

Read more »One agent said packages sent and delivered to Beijing within China could not contain powder, liquids or batteries. Certain things are understandably illegal to send by mail. In the U.S., for example, it has been illegal to mail children since 1913. That makes sense. Firearms are banned by the U.K.’s Royal Mail service (although “sporting guns” are permitted). But batteries?

Richard illustrates how greedy landlords who for months have been dreaming of screwing their tenants with 50%, 100%, 400% rent hikes due to the Olympics are now scrambling to keep bodies in their rentals. The Beijing housing market may not "crash", but it is definitely fizzling out.

Not understanding the culture or the language – well, have you tried even to learn the language? Or how about getting some Chinese friend? I haven’t loved every country where I have lived, but I have always at least given it a try, and tried to make the most of it? Well, I suppose living abroad is not suitable to everyone.
